I attended the wedding of a friend.  During the course of the wedding someone slipped a drug into my drink. When I passed out, due to the drug this same person offered to bring me home.  After he raped and beat me, he left me on the side of the road. Luckily, a paramedic was on the way home stopped and began CPR.

I do not know exactly when the NDE began, if I was in the hospital or lying on the road.  What I know is that I did perceive myself as having a body.  I wandered down dark hallways and believed I was lost.  I didn't know how I had gotten there, I didn't know where I was.  I was very frightened and wanted to find a way out.  I kept walking down this hallway for an unknown amount of time.

Finally, I saw light coming from a door ahead of me.  I rushed to it and entered.  Inside, there was a window with golden light shining through it.  A bed was up against the wall opposite from the window.  I cannot say if I heard a voice or if it was inside of my head, but it told me to laydown, it wasn't time yet.

I laid down in the bed.  When I awoke, I was in a hospital bed with IV's and a catheter.  I knew what had happened to me (sexual assault) but I didn't understand what the weird "dream" was.  I twas years later that someone told me what it was.

Now that I know, I have come to understand that I was dead, but something greater than me, knew  Iwould continue on in this life.  I have never forgotten and probably never will.  I do know that in some ways it's still frightening and in other ways, it's comforting.  I do hope that when I do die, we can skip the whole dark hallway thing and go straight to the beautiful golden light!
